Packing a carry-on for a full week isn't about cramming — it's about a system. Here's the one we use on every trip.
A rigid polycarbonate carry-on gives you a fixed volume to plan against. Once you know your shell, you stop over-packing "just in case." Lay it flat and divide it into two halves: one for clothing, one for everything else.
Compression packing cubes are the single biggest space win. Roll shirts, load them into a slim cube, and zip the compression panel. You'll reclaim roughly a third of the space folding wastes.
Leakproof travel bottles keep toiletries under the 3.4 oz TSA limit and out of your clean clothes. Decant before you leave — never pack full-size bottles in a carry-on.
Documents, adapter, chargers, and a neck pillow go in your personal item, not the carry-on. An RFID document holder keeps passports and cards together and shielded.
A compact luggage scale at the door saves you from a gate-check surprise. Aim a pound or two under the airline limit so souvenirs have room on the way home.
